Eutelsat and a subsidiary of the Tata Group have reached a cooperation agreement on low-orbit satellites in India. News on August 12 (Yizhen) Eutelsat has signed a cooperation agreement with Nelco, a satellite operator of the Tata Group, to provide low-orbit satellite (LEO) communication services to customers in the land, maritime and aviation fields, focusing on supporting key applications for the Indian government and enterprises. The French satellite company said it will cooperate with Nelco, an Indian satellite communications company, to provide secure, low-latency LEO connections covering the entire territory of India, territorial waters and remote areas. Both parties pointed out that this cooperation will help enhance India's demand for digital infrastructure and national security, while providing reliable connectivity to underserved areas. Eutelsat will promote the cooperation through its subsidiary OneWeb India Communications. Once OneWeb's LEO services become commercially available in India, Nelco will stand ready to provide relevant services to its customers. It is reported that OneWeb India, a subsidiary of Eutelsat, has obtained a conditional operating license from the Ministry of Telecommunications, which means that the service is expected to start soon. In addition, Elon Musk's Starlink and India's Reliance Industries' Jio satellite communications company have also obtained the same license.
